Vessels with self-unloading gear are nothing new. But the self-unloader concept has wider potential in coal handling as the work - and the vision - of one of the world's leading designers of self-unloading vessels shows. Self-unloaders are nothing new in North America where they are almost part of the scenery in the Great Lakes. In recent years they have made their way into the open seas, although they are still a rarity outside the CSL/Oldendorff/Marbulk pool. Yet the concept of self-unloaders is making its impact felt all over the world.
