In early spring 2007, the United States was hit by a pet food scare. The federal government scrambled to contain the outbreak and the whole episode caused a nationwide panic for pet owners. States in the South became concerned about rising catfish imports and state officials decided to test the fish. What they found surprised them a banned antibiotic.
