With much of the focus in the Pacific region recently trained on China's approach to the market, Indonesia's growth in production and exports has been somewhat overshadowed Indonesian coal production, of which almost all is thermal coal, is expected to rise by a massive 12-15 mt this year through the expansion of existing mines and the development of new production sites which could see Indonesia overtake Australia as the world's largest exporter of thermal coal.
