The 6th Central American Symposium on Aquaculture: shrimp

The 6th Central American Symposium on Aquaculture, organized by the National Aquaculture Association of Honduras (ANDAH) and the Global Aquaculture Alliance (GAA), was held in Tegucigalpa, Honduras on August 22-24, 2001. Two concurrent, production-oriented sessions covered industry status along with recent advances in tilapia and shrimp production. Over 400 participants representing several countries, including Honduras, Mexico, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Belize, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Venezuela,Ecuador, Peru, Brazil, the U.S., Israel and others, attended the symposium. The meeting was very successful and was widely described as a very practical, hands-on event that provided a timely and useful update on current industry techniques. It also provided participants with ample opportunities to exchange views and information with other producers and researchers.
