I recently attended the VIV Asia Con ference and Trade show in Bangkok and heard an excellent presentation by Dr. Michael Cremer from the American Soybean Association (ASA) on developments in feed production for aquaculture in Asia, focusing on China. The VIV Asia conference is the largest show I have ever attended; between 8,000 and 10,000 people came to the show each day to see displays from companies in Europe, North America, Asia, and Australia. The conference covered all aspects of animal and fish production. Cremer just ended a long stretch as the aquaculture specialist in China for ASA, and he has seen incredible changes during his tour of duty, which he highlighted in his presentation of which I summarize below.
