Reference measurements and ultrasonographic intraocular structures in goats.

摘要

Ultrasonography is a safe and non-invasive method used to diagnose oculardisorders and complements routine examination. We describe ultrasonographic appearance andmeasurements of intraocular structures in normal Mamasani goats. Transcorneal ultrasonographicscanning of left and right eyes of 20 goats was performed with a 9 MHZ transducer placed in alongitudinal position sagittal plane for optimal B-scan imaging. Mean and standard deviation ofanterior chamber was 3.19±0.24mm, lens thickness 8.41±0.29mm, vitreous chamber depth10.89±0.20mm and axial globe length 22.25±0.65mm. Females had shorter anterior and vitreouschambers depth than males (P0.05) in any goat. The reference data may be useful for diagnoses of ocularabnormalities in this goat.
