Four groups of 3 to 4 month old 4 ram lambs each weighing 24-28Kg weresupplemented 0.3g zinc amino acid complex with or without 8g exogenous fibrolyticenzyme daily for 10 weeks. Controls (2) were lambs fed basal diet without supplementsand data from day 0 in those given supplement. All groups were fed concentrate pelletsadjusted to 3% of body weight grazed daily 3 hours as one herd. Lambs were offered hayand green roughage with water ad libitum when not grazing. Jugular blood was taken atDay 0 and every 14 days for 10 weeks for hematology and serum urea, protein, glucose andcholesterol. Compared with both controls (P< 0.05), albumin increased 35-49% by days 56-70 and urea 9-27% by day 42 to 70. Compared with non-supplemented controls, serumcholesterol was 5-16% lower (P < 0.05) at days 42-70. We found no differences in serumvalues between the different supplements.
