We report effect of Sorghum bicolor Cv Enqatht residue (and trifluralin) on emergence and growth of Beta vulgaris L. Chenopodium album L., Amaranthus retroflexus L., and Malva rotundifoloia L. weeds growing with Vigna Sinensis L. cowpea crop. Plot (250gm) soil results suggested that the treatment significantly ( P < 0.05) reduced weed density by 32.4 % and total dry biomass by 1.57gm over controls (4gm kg-1). There were further reductions when 8gm/kg sorghum residue was added to soil plots. A randomized complete block design (RCBD) was used to determine the effect of 800g M2 Sorghum bicolor on growth of Vigna Sinensis legume with weeds and treated with 1.2L or 2.4L h-1 Trifluralin. We compared those treatments with untreated controls. In field experiments 800gm/Kg Sorghum bicolor residue reduced weeds Beta vulgaris L. 38%, Chenopodium album L. 47.7%, Amaranthus retroflexus L. 24% and Malva rotundifoloia L. 10.67% . Respective biomass declined to 68, 63.7, 61.7, 22.33gm dry weed weight in Vigna Sinensis cowpea crop. When 50% more Trifluralin was added to plots with Sorghum bicolor, the dry weight of Vigna Sinensis L., increased further. We find that sorghum bicolor residue with 50% trifluralin increased biological yield and harvest index of Vigna Sinensis L.
