摘要

Toxoplasma gondii oocysts excreted by cats, and poor sanitation and hygiene is thought to be responsible for a high incidence of toxoplasmosis in some indigenous Brazilians. Feline leukemia virus (FeLV) and feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) may reactivate latent toxoplasmosis infections; the incidence of FeLv and FIV in 43 cats in indigenous settlements was evaluated. Results showed that 37 cats appeared normal, 4 had lesions suggestive of squamous cell carcinoma, 2 appeared weak, but none were positive to ELISA. The conflicting results may be due to age, and/or antigen and antibody being absent or below detection levels.
