Phylogenetics of Fasciola hepatica in cattle (Iraq).

We evaluated DNA of flukes from 22 bovine livers by PCR (947bp) mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase subunit-1 (cox 1) gene to determine prevalence and phylogenetic profile. Thirteen samples were identified as Fasciola hepatica submitted to NCBI-Genbank data base with accession numbers MN006833 to MN006844. A phylogenetic tree revealed 12 Fasciola hepatica had close relation with NCBI-BLAST KF111595.1 from Spain. Other NCBI BLAST Fasciola species differed out of distance branch tree (0.02-0.10%). Our isolates 1, 2 to 10, 11 and 12, had high nucleotide similarity with NCBI-BLAST F. hepatica haplotypes, H5 (MK212146.1), H2 (MK212143.1), H1 (MK212142.1), and H4 (MK212145.1), respectively. This suggests that nucleotide similarity between NCBI GeneBank haplotypes from Algeria and Spain from common source snail Galba truncatula.
