摘要

Flea allergy dermatitis (FAD) in dogs is mostly induced by complement C5a from Ctenocephalides felis. We report effect of complement inhibitor to inhibit activation of C5a receptor allergic dermatitis in BALB/C mice. We compared results with prednisone and assessed effects on tissue, hematology and biochemical values. Four groups of 5 male and female mice each were injected 100mug/mouse flea antigen intramusculary and intradermally and then injected daily for 3 days 0.1mg/kg complement C5 inhibitor (1) or 0.1mg/kg prednisolone (2). Controls were given only flea antigen (3) or anti-histamine (4). We found no effect on leucocytes, lymphocyte, neutrophils or eosinophils but observed spongiosis and inflammation in epidermis. Epidermis of controls givenonly antigen measured ~48mum, complement inhibitor 42mum, antihistamine 39mum, and prednisone 26mum representing a difference of 46%. However only controls injected flea antigen without treatment developed hyperplasia of epidermis (P < 0.05)
