Inco and Tisco to jointly build Ni smelter in Taiyuan, Shanxi province

Canadian Inco, the world's leading nickel producer, and Taiyuan Iron & Steel Group Co., Ltd(Tisco), the Chinese leading maker of stainless steel, on May 4 signed a letter of intent to jointly invest USD50 million in building a nickel smelter with capacity of 20,000tpy in Taiyuan city of Shanxi province. The signing ceremony was held in Toronto. Top officials of the two companies as well as governor of Shanxi province attended the ceremony.
