Chongqing Jien to double refined Ni capacity during 2006-2010

Chongqing Jien Nickel Co., Ltd, a joint venture between Jilin Jien Nickel Co., Ltd and Chongqing Nonferrous Metals Group Co., Ltd, plans to lift its production capacity of refined nickel to 3,000 tonnes per year during the period from 2006 to 2010 from the current 1,500 tpy, source from the company said. The company was wholly owned by Chongqing Nonferrous Metals Group Co., Ltd. Last year, it produced 1,688 tonnes of refined nickel. But it stop production and lost money over the past few years due to supply tightness of nickel raw materials. So, its parent company sold part of shares of the company to Jilin Jien Nickel Co., Ltd in 2003.
