JNMC conducts feasibility study on new Ni smelting prject

Jinchuan Group Limited(JNMC) is conducting a feasibility study on a. new nickel smelting project in a bid to lift its capacity of refined nickel to 150,000tpy by 2008 from the current 130,000tpy, sources from the company said. JNMC plans to introduce Australian Ausmelt technology and built a new nickel smelter. The company expects the smelter to come on stream in the second half of 2007. Once on stream, the smelter will be capable of processing 1.0 million low-grade nickel concentrates into 61,000-65,000 high-grade nickel matte per year and also yielding 660,000tpy sulfuric acid. The smelter can treat both JNMC's home-made nickel concentrate and imported raw materials with wide range of nickel grade.
