THE EFFECTS OF SCHEDULE UTP COMPLIANCE REPORTING: AN ANALYSIS OF IMPLICATIONS ON THE OIL, GAS, AND ENERGY INDUSTRY

This study examines the effects of the Internal Revenue Service's Schedule UTP on tax planning within the oil, gas, and energy industry. In doing so, the study extends existing research on Schedule UTP (Abernathy et al. 2013; Towery 2017; Honaker and Sharma 2017) to consider whether firm response is industry specific. In supplemental tests, we also consider whether industry-specific response is dependent upon firm size.
