China's primary aluminum consumption is estimated to reach 5.9 million tonnes this year, up by 20 percent from last year's 4.95 million tonnes, and the consumption is expected to grow by around 14 percent year-on-year to 6.7 million tonnes in 2005, Antaike predicts. The growth rate in China's aluminum consumption is slowing down because of the implementation of macro-control measures in such overheated industries as real estate and auto sectors that are the big and important users of aluminum, said Mr. Wang Feihong, senior aluminum analyst with Antaike.
