Chalieco provides technical support for Malaysia's Sarawak Al smelter project

China Aluminum International Engineering Corporation Ltd(Chalieco for short) in Beijing on November 15 signed a cooperation framework agreement with Malaysia's Smelter Asia Sdn Bhd to build a greenfield 500,000-600,000tpy aluminum smelter in Malaysia. The smelter is named as Sarawak Aluminum Smelter, which will be the first one In Malaysia5 ending history that the country cannot produce primary aluminum. The smelter will adopt Chinese 320 kA pre-baked technology. With a total investment of USD1.5 billion, the project also includes construction of carbon anode plant. The whole project will be finished by two stages.
