Chalco to produce 8.5mt alumina and 1.5mt primary Al this year

Aluminum Corporation of China Limited(Chalco) plans to produce 8.5 million tonnes of alumina and 1.5 million tonnes of primary aluminum in 2006, said a top official of the company.' Chalco now has around 9.0 million tpy alumina capacity: Zhengzhou branch's 2.3 million tpy, Shanxi branch 2.2 million tpy, Zhongzhou branch 1.5 million tpy, Shandong branch 1.2 million tpy, Guizhou branch 900,000tpy and Guangxi branch 900,000tpy. Moreover, Luneng Jinbei Aluminum Co., Ltd expects its Phase one alumina project with, capacity of 500,000tpy to come on stream in the second half of 2006.
