Chinese gold output slightly down in Q1 (CGA)

According to the statistics of China Gold Association (CGA), China produced 15.993 tonnes of gold in March. The output totaled 43.788 tonnes in Q1, down 1.525 tonnes or 3.37 percent against the same period last year. In Jan.-Mar., domestic gold mining enterprises yielded 33.039 tonnes of gold (finished gold and gold contained in concentrates). Shandong and Henan are still the top two producers, contributing 30.53 percent and 16.78 percent respectively among the gold mining enterprises. During the same period, gold smelters and other nonferrous metals producers produced 21.072 tonnes of finished gold, up by 3.33 percent year-on-year.
