摘要

The European Commission expects the EU’s wine harvest to drop by 13% this year after vineyards in the main producing countries suffered from challenging weather conditions. On 12 October, the Commission published its early estimates of the EU’s wine production for 2021/22 after it collected harvest information from all EU member states. The EU executive found that the bloc’s wine production will end up at 147 million hectolitres, which would be 13% lower than in 2020, when output reached around 170 million hectolitres. This would also be 11% lower than average of the past five years, although still higher than the latest disaster harvest of 2017 caused by spring frosts.
