European Commission urged to compensate EU farmers for higher fertilizer costs

Poland has urged the European Commission to support farmers hit by higher fertilizer costs to avoid a threat to food security and social unrest. At the EU Council meeting of agriculture ministers on 11 October, the Polish delegation called on the Commission to act against the recent rise in fertilizer prices and support farmers through this “crisis”.
