Suek plans to raise output

Russia's largest thermal coal miner Suek plans to increase its coal production by 4.6pc on the year to 115mn t in 2019, because of growing output in the Khakassia, Buryatia and Khabarovsk regions. The company aims to lift production of higher-grade thermal coal, delivering it mainly to premium export markets. But Suek’s output fell by almost 4pc on the year to 27.4mn t in the first quarter, mainly because of falling pro- duction in the Kemerovo region as three Suek-Kuzbass mines — Kirova, Taldinskaya-Zapadnaya-2 and Yalevskogo — mount new faces, a company source says.
