Russian coal sold to Vietnam

Taiwanese firm Formosa Plastics Group (FPG) bought several cargoes of Russian coal for its facilities in Vietnam in a tender that closed on 6 May. The results of the tender were announced last week, highlighting higher values for Vietnam- bound shipments. The cargo was priced at a $1/t discount to fob Newcastle index on a cif Vietnam basis, equivalent to around $74/t on a fob Vostochny NAR 6,000 kcal/kg basis. Russian supplier Mir Trade sold a total of 320,000t of coal in the tender. The material will be delivered in four Panamax shipments to Vietnam’s Son Duong port in July– December. FPG was looking for coal with a minimum of NAR 5,500 kcal/kg (GAR 5,700 kcal/kg).
