Kru increases coal output and exports

Russian coal producer Kuzbassrazrezugol (Kru), the largest producer in the Kemerovo region, lifted coal output in the first quarter of 2019 by 1.7pc year on year, in line with the company's strategy and strong performance at its largest mining asset — the Taldinsky opencast mine. Kru increased total coal production to 11.5mn t in January-March from 11.1mn t a year earlier, company data show. Most of Kru's output in the first quarter came from thermal coal — about 10.1mn t — and the rest was coking coal. Thermal coal production rose by 6.4pc year on year, while coking coal output decreased by 12.5pc.
