Russian coal prices in Asia-Pacific fall

Russian high-grade coal prices in Asia-Pacific declined as large producers offered discounts to clear far eastern port stocks. Spot prices for NAR 6,000 kcal/kg fob Vostochny coal plunged by $7.23/t on the week to $82.10/t. Russian export- ers valued prices at around $80.00-85.50/t fob, depending on the producer and destination. Large coal sellers still have sizeable volumes available in stock, a supplier said. Russian coal was awarded under Taiwanese conglomer- ate Formosa Plastics Group's (FPG) tender that closed on 12 March. A large supplier sold 80,000t of Russian thermal coal at around $79.50/t fob on a GAR 6,300 kcal/kg basis with loading in late April. FPG also bought 65,000t of low-volatile Russian coal for delivery to Mailiao port at an undisclosed price.
