Book Review-Regime Stability, Social Insecurity and Bauxite Mining in Guinea

It is no secret that resource-rich countries are more likely to be the victim of conflicts (Collier and Hoeffler, 1998). Sierra Leone and Liberia experienced violent conflicts fuelled by their natural resource wealth. Their neighbour, Guinea, is also extremely rich in natural resources, with a booming bauxite mining industry. Yet, the country remains poor and underdeveloped, although unlike its two neighbours, it has not experienced any civil war.
