Help Wanted? Fair and Sustainable Financing of Long-term Care Services

摘要

After discussing some basic data on long-term care (LTC) financing and related expenditure projections, this paper reviews coverage arrangements for LTC across the OECD, and then argues that the main challenge for financing LTC services will be finding the right balance between fair protection and financial sustainability. This will be a sine qua non condition to ensure that financing LTC systems is financially sustainable in the long run, without shifting too large a financial burden onto future generations.
