SBWMA Accuses BFI of Bad Service; Authority Looks to Rebid Contract in '10

BFI/Allied Waste Industries Inc. is in hot water for failing to meet stringent recycling requirements in northern California. The South Bayside Waste Management Authority charged the company failed to meet the recycling requirements or make sufficient trash pickups in a report released last month. Allied had to face it accusers Jan., 18. The company failed to divert sufficient commercial waste to recycling for the third year in a row and missed more than 9,000 trash pickups, exceeding the 180 allowed per year in its contract, according to the authority. Those items represent two of Allied's 12 contract requirements.
