摘要

In 2015 a well-known MR then the Mayor of London, promised that he would lie down in front of bulldozers to stop the construction of the planned third runway at Heathrow. During the 2019 General Election campaign that he would go on to win, Boris Johnson repeated his pledge. Since then, plans for a third runway have been set back somewhat, so it remains to be seen whether a serving prime minister would engage in such direct action - and what the response of his close protection officers would be to any attempt to manhandle him out of the way - but the pledge stands nevertheless as a measure of how acceptable such actions are seen to be.
