The need for green innovation and alternative solutions is at the forefront of the road construction industry at present, with contractual as well as environmental obligations helping push the change. While the UK may have lagged behind international colleagues up until this point in the use of warm mix asphalt (WMA), the more recent ALARM survey showed that the tide is changing. 'Over 60% (62%) of respondents include WMA on their asphalt specification list and, of those that are not currently including it, 72% are looking to adopt it in the future,' the survey found.
