Certain Peculiarities of Diamond Crystals Photoluminescence from Placers of Ukraine

摘要

Distribution of nitrogen-containing defects in diamond crystals from different sources (four kimberlitic and one lamproitic pipes of different age, two present-day placers) has been studied by the photoluminescence method. It has been found that diamond from each of the sources is characterized by the stable specific set of luminescent parameters: luminescence colour, spectrum configuration and composition of centres. Different morphological varieties of diamond crystals from different regions which possess orange-red luminescence were studied comparatively. Ukrainian diamonds of the cubic habit are distinguished for distribution of photoluminescence centres connected with interstitial nitrogen atoms and their aggregates. Tentative conclusions about genesis of a diamond from the titanium-zirconium placer of the middle Dnieper territory are made
