Influence of Porous Rolls on Newtonian Calendering

摘要

In this study, equations of motion for the process of Newtonian fluid calendering with porous rolls are modeled and analyzed. Exact solutions for velocity field and pressure gradient are presented without employing any approximation theory. Integrated quantities of engineering interest like maximum pressure, roll-separating force, and power input to the rolls are calculated numerically. It is noted that the transverse mass across the fluid has great influence on detachment point, velocity and pressure distributions. Several physical parameters of engineering interest are discussed and presented graphically.
