Attorney General Nessel files motion to dismiss Enbridge lawsuit, files suit alleging continued operation of Line 5 violates public trust doctrine and Michigan Environmental Protection Act
LANSING, Mich.-Thursday, June 27 marked the deadline that Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel gave Gov. Whitmer to reach a deal with Enbridge on the future of Line 5, before she took her own legal action against the pipeline. The Governor and Enbridge were unable to come to an agreeable timeline for the project's completion, as Gov. Whitmer held firm to seeing the pipeline out of the water in two years, prior to the completion of the tunnel, a non-starter for Enbridge.
