Hand and Wrist Viral infections of the hand

Viral infections are uncommonly responsible for clinically significant infections of the hand. Because of their rarity, they are often misdiagnosed or treated as bacterial infections, resulting in incorrect or unnecessary treatment. Accordingly, the clinician should be familiar with their presentation and appropriate treatment. This article reviews the clinical features and current treatment of the more commonly encountered viral infections of the hand.
