FORECAST OF MANGANESE ALLOYS CONSUMPTION IN RUSSIA

Russia’s total steel production will stay virtually unchanged in 2018. EAF steel output will rise by 3%, whileBOF steel production will decrease by 1.1% and OHF steel output will drop by 11% on decommissioningof an open-hearth shop at Vyksa Steel Works. Alloy requirement remained almost unmoved despite anapparent rise of the SiMn market due to stock accumulation at suppliers. In 2019, steel output will expect-edly decrease by 0.88 million t (down 1.2%); BOF steel production will lose 0.97 million t and OHF steelproduction – 0.12 million t, while EAF steel output will rise by 0.22 million t. SiMn purchases will decreaseby 6,000 t, FeMn – by 5,000 t.
