300 years after Jakob Bernoulli his "logarithmic spiral" opens up a new very interesting field of application in transmission engineering. The application of this mathematical curve at the geometry of cross sections of joint makes possible that a shaft-hub connection can fulfil also the function of an overload protection at the same time. The integration of this function into the shaft-hub connection does not increase the moment of inertia because no additional mass (volume) is necessary.
