Power up

The P-3A Orion Long Range Tracker aircraft operated by the US Customs and Border Protection Agency (USCBP) captures video as well as infrared images of a range of illicit activity, such as drug smuggling and illegal immigration. Last year these capabilities were put to another good use in the emergency response to Hurricane Katrina, when images and video were streamed in real time to decision-makers on the ground with Inmarsat Swift64 (see Via Inmarsat Jan-Mar 2006).
