Proteus Equipment introduced the hot box concept into the UK at the Hill-head exhibition in 1985. In those days the utilities and local authorities were much more heavily involved in road reinstatement and repairs than they are today and they quickly realised that the hot box could bring considerable benefits in quality and economy. The success of the Proteus hot boxes attracted several other manufacturers into the market place.
