Parking priorities

A nationwide survey has revealed that more than half of Britain's 3,500 multistorey car parks (MSCP) built in the 60s and 70s have suffered some form of structural decay or defect, water ingress in failed roofdeck surfaces being the most common problem. This can lead to water, chlorides and other contaminates infiltrating the concrete and attacking the steel reinforcement, weakening the structure. Any faults can lead to potentially dangerous decks being closed and, no matter how temporary these measures, closures mean lost revenue.
