Scottish Water began work on a stretch of sewerage pipe through Troon in November - without having to dig up the town's roads About 1.8-kilometres of pipe will be overhauled in the £750,000 project. Work started in Kilmarnock Road -with further work in Craigend Road and Southend Road set to will take place after New Year, for completion by March 2005. The technique which the contractors will use is called sliplining - which minimises the need for digging and disruption. No traffic measures are needed as none of the work is actually on the roads. Sliplining allows new pipe to be inserted into old damaged pipelines without the need to dig long trenches.
