Damages and damage prevention at rolling bearings: Part II: stress analysis and damage prevention

Rolling bearings number among the highest loaded machine components. In spite of this fact only a few machine failures occur caused by a rolling bearing damage, expressed as a percentage. Their low failure rate is the result of the extensive know how of the rolling bearing manufacturers. In the first part of this paper in the January issue the forms of damages of rolling bearings were shown, now this second part describes the stress analysis and the damage prevention of these transmission elements in the view of the materials laboratory of a well-known rolling bearing manufacturer.
