Consultants muscling-in on the contractors' market

The increasing trend of companies seen primarily as consultants moving into the highways maintenance market is starting to impact on the contractors tables. In the first quarter of 2010, Atkins bagged out-sourcing deals with Oxfordshire County Council and Somerset County Council valued at ￡350 million and ￡200 million respectively to top the quarterly contractors table.
