Aggregate Industries, Breedon and Leiths are chasing a ￡1 million job to carry out structural maintenance to a 1.7-km stretch of single carriageway on the A96 between Allanfearn and Stratton for Transport Scotland. A decision is imminent and BEAR Scotland will supervise the work, which starts in August. A decision on the ￡250 million North Yorkshire County Council roads deal is imminent. The tender return date was extended from May 27 to June 17 and five bids were returned with Balfour Beatty up against May Gurney, Ringway, New Zealand outfit EDI Works and a joint venture between Costain and Galliford Try. The 10-year contract is expected to start in September 2011.
