Long wait over for Costain

Costain has finally been confirmed as the winner of a ￡150 million upgrading of the A465 in Abergavenny, which is likely to be one of the biggest single roads construction projects awarded this year. Costain beat off four other bids for the deal. Carillion made the initial shortlist along with three joint ventures between local outfit Alun Griffiths and Morgan Sindall, Amey and BAM Nuttall, and Swansea-based Dawnus with Spanish outfit OHL Costain chief executive Andrew Wyllie said: 'This award demonstrates the strength of our position as one of the UK's leading solution providers in the Highways sector."
