Feed system with synchronous linear motors for high and ultrahigh precision machines

摘要

The production of high-quality surfaces by machining requires first-grade guidance and drive systems. Here linear motors produce directly a translational motion but there are little experiences regarding the use of this motor type in precision technology. So a feed system with a synchronous linear motor was developed. This part I presents the advantages and disadvantages of linear motors and describes the different types. Part II will show the test assembly and the results.
