Dwell fee pushed back again as congestion at US ports eases

CALIFORNIA container ports are taking steps to ease the flow of traffic across their docks as congestion continues to interrupt the flow of imports and exports. The ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach will further delay implementation of a container dwell fee until January 10, again citing declining numbers of over-staying containers. The ports said they have seen a combined decline of 35% in "aging cargo" on their docks since announcing the fee in October but conceded that the end of year holidays have slowed the progress.
