In a world that has an ever-increasing reliance on technology there is a voracious appetite for connectivity. It has been the usual practise of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) teams within Local Authorities to utilise leased lines to connect remote traffic signal assets within their own urban infrastructure to Urban Traffic Control (UTC) Systems that reside within their offices. This typical approach has been in the past an easy route to connectivity management for Local Authorities; however, increasingly, existing service providers are either turning off services to authorities without notice, reducing overall site support for older ailing services, or costing councils considerable on-going revenue costs through the charges for these leased lines.
