Gearing up for WEEE Directive changes

While the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive has undergone considerable change since its introduction in 2007, its requirements are set to tighten further over the next few years. Most significantly for highways management organisations, the Environment Agency is set to increase recycling targets by 45% per capita by 2016. By 2019 this will rise again by 65% over current targets. 2018 will also see switch gear, internally illuminated signs and photovoltaic panels brought into the scope of the Directive.
