Germany reaches deal on LNG import terminal

GERMANY has shored up plans for what could be its first LNG import terminal, with its state-owned investment group KfW signing a memorandum on March 4 with Dutch gas grid operator Gasunie and German energy group RWE on the project. Germany’s government recently ordered certification of Russia’s Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline to be halted in light of Russia’s actions in Ukraine. In its stead, that project is expected to be replaced by two LNG import terminals – one in Brunsbuettel and one in Wilhelmshaven.
