A joined up approach

When a 2.4 mile section of the A72 between Garrion Bridge and Overton Farm which forms part of the Clyde Valley Tourist route was in need of resurfacing a number of challenges had to be faced. A 26-mile diversion route had to be implemented to enact the road closure; public transport had to be re-routed, access to properties and businesses had to be maintained at all times and the work also had to coincide with ongoing slope stability works. As the route was part of a full road safety route action plan a decision was taken to replace all existing signage including chevrons and to upgrade road markings and studs together with footway resurfacing works.
